Experience
Given my 25 years in the Biotech industry, I have good insight into the industry operations. My experience gives me the ability to form strong working partnerships, and set the collective vision to help bring a company forward. I spent 15 years of my career in the Biopharma industry utilizing advanced technologies in Boston, and moved to the West Coast in 2007 to create and lead cellular engineering teams while building systems biology Bioindustrial platforms. My broad technical exposure is exemplified through my leadership and contributions to a variety of projects ranging from pharma to fine chemicals, from energy to bioremediation and to protein production. In looking at my professional career and my many accomplishments, strategic long-term vision and my ability to identify new pathways in biotechnology has been an overarching strength and theme. My keen foresight allows me to identify and create synergies that leverage existing and emerging technologies. I excel at working collaboratively to cultivate internal and external key strategic partners (within the academic community and both the biotech and large industries) to help move the business forward.
Technical mindset
The cornerstone of my professional career has been to continue to ride the wave of new technologies. My career in Biotech has been not so much fixed, but more like a moving compass. This mindset has offered me an approach within the Biotech space; I operate from a framework of staying open-minded to new ideas and receptive to new approaches. I know the value of trying new strategies and the importance of foresight and staying attuned to the ever-changing Biotech industry. My natural management style is to lead by influence, which is characterized by developing people, encouraging their ideas, generating enthusiasm, providing recognition, and valuing collaboration. In my experience, providing ongoing feedback and creating an environment of open communication (where data and best practices are continually shared) is essential to achieving peak performance.

In summary, I have a solid understanding of the processes and challenges in developing and managing pre-clinical and bio-industrial candidate products. When you look at the evolution of my career from being a Geneticist, Genomicist, and now a Synthetic Biologist (combined with my early background as an Engineer), you can see the broad technical and industry knowledge that I can bring to your business.
